Anyone contemplating a bathroom remodeling project may find the range of bathroom tile designs has become immense; making a choice on a style isn’t always as straightforward as you may think with the ranges available today. If you have a large bathroom this can be quite a daunting prospect so it is lucky that the range of styles, finishes and textures, is extensive; this is convenient of course because there will probably something that will suit your style within your budget. Some tile designs are more desirable than others including those that are more traditional like stone, Italian marble and the famous harlequin design but colorful tiles are also becoming more popular.

My timeless favorite is the harlequin bathroom tile which are small black squares turned to look like diamonds in a grid pattern on a plain white tile. Sometimes these tiles are available in other colors but the traditional black and white oblong tile is the most popular and effective. I personally like a harlequin bathroom design in black and white as the diamond shape of the pattern really yields well to the stark contrast of the extreme colors. A bathroom will look clean and shiny, and by adding a chrome tub and shower faucet to the mix will give the area a fresh, shimmering glow which is ideal for the bath area.

The effect this provides can make it look as though you have spent a fortune on your bathroom but chrome and other polished metal fixings can cause problems as they mark easily. If you have younger children then this is something you need to think about because you will spend considerable time each day cleaning the fixings. Of course if you want maintenance free floor tiles you should try the natural stone tile designs which don’t require so much cleaning if water spills on them; a brushed stainless steel bath really complements this type of tile. However, for real luxury you need to look at a bathroom tile design in marble and although expensive, really is the best flooring you can get.

If cost is an option then there are ways in which you can have the best of both worlds by having the main design made up of a bathroom tile that is moderately priced. Once you have this it is a simple matter of choosing a higher quality tile to place within the overall design and as you won’t be using a huge number of them, it really wont matter how much they cost. Whilst tiling isn’t overly complicated, it is still an art which you would do well to remember and organize a tradesman to come in to do it for you. Although it is obviously much cheaper to tile yourself your bathroom remodeling project will take longer. You may waste more tiles than you anticipate but will the result look as good?

One of the most pleasing decorating makeovers you can carry out is that of remodeling the master bedroom because this is a room where people spend a great deal of their lives but it can easily be more than just a place to sleep. In recent times, homeowners have seen the benefits of turning this room into more than just a room to sleep; for example, a reading room or just a place to relax. Some Europeans believe the bedroom should be a place where a sensual atmosphere is the one to aim for and this approach is gradually being adopted by Americans as well.

To do this requires the use of emotionally appealing colors that are more seductive like rouge or lipstick reds, subtle pinks or creamy peaches. The addition of oval mirrors can help create beautiful reflections when candles are placed close to them. For some people, the bedroom is a place to lounge and read a good book whether in the bed itself or in some relaxing bedroom furniture by the window which will enhance your reading pleasure; something that has been a regular feature in certain sectors of society for generations.

However, good lights for reading are required that are not too harsh on the eyes and a shaded table lamp on a small circular table next to the armchair will really set the scene. Certain colors go well with a bedroom that is also being used as a reading room; shades of ivory for instance or the warmth of antique amber and relaxing slate blue. There are those individuals that view a bedroom as a kind of place to go to get away from everyone else so if you are remodeling your master bedroom to provide this style look to add big pillows and cushions and perhaps the odd landscape painting.

If your sanctuary is also a place where you intend to read then the addition of a comfortable chair and a reading lamp will be a simple matter. Of course when remodeling your master bedroom this way, pictures of your family (preferably in antique brass frames) should be placed around the room to provide a sanctuary like feeling. In a room like this colors that create the best effect are the darker blues, darker browns and the type of green that you see naturally in woodland as these colors produce a warm womb like feeling that is also good for a restful nights sleep.

For those people where space is not an issue when they remodel their master bedroom, why not add a few extra touches like a small desk to write on and perhaps some music to listen to. Small refrigerators in wooden cabinets are also becoming a popular addition along with tea or coffee making facilities in the same way that most nice hotels have. This could be a challenge as once this type of master bedroom remodeling project is complete; you may not want to leave it.
